PINEAPPLE BOAT

PINEAPPLE BOAT

Going for a brunch or pot luck party and wondering what to make? Hosting a small lunch and want to surprise your friends? Why don't you take/make a Pineapple Boat laden with fruit? This will be welcome on a hot summer day. Apart from being pleasing to the eye, fruits are good for health being low in calories and fat, while being a strong source of anti-oxidants.

 Here are some advantages:
  • It's colorful and adds elan to your table
  • It's yummy and even kids who don't usually eat fruit will be tempted to grab some
  • It's easy to dispose off, because there will be nothing left
  • And , of course, there is one less dish to wash:)
In making your pineapple boat, don't carve out the entire inner wall as then it will become weak and you don't want your boat to collapse, do you? Leave adequate amount of pineapple at the bottom and the sides so that your boat remains firm and rock steady, even as you load it.

For the cargo, toss in fruits of different types cut into small pieces. In my boat, I have used water melon, grapes, pomegranate, papaya, banana and orange to make up the cargo. You can, of course, use the pineapple you have scooped out too.

You have several options to serve this:
  • With cream or ice cream
  • Just as fresh fruit
  • With a sprinkling of "chaat masala"

Let me know how it went for you.
